Everything You Want to Know
About Our Services

Browse by category or search your question below.

1 What is Vidyapaath and what services do you offer?
Vidyapaath is India's trusted admission counselling platform. We provide data-driven, expert guidance for NEET UG, NEET PG, JEE/JoSAA, MBA, Pharmacy, Law counselling, and MBBS Study Abroad. Our counsellors have helped 15,000+ students secure admissions in their dream colleges since 2016. We are based in New Delhi and operate pan-India through online counselling sessions.
2 Is Vidyapaath's first counselling session really free?
Yes, absolutely. Your first counselling call is completely free — no payment, no registration, no commitment required. Our expert will review your rank, category, and preferences, and outline a counselling strategy for you. You can then decide if you'd like to continue with a premium plan. There are no hidden charges in our initial consultation.
3 How is Vidyapaath different from other counselling platforms?
Three key differences: (1) We only use official, verifiable cutoff data — not estimates or predictions based on coaching institute data. (2) We have zero conflicts of interest — we never get commissions from colleges for recommendations. (3) We assign a dedicated human counsellor for your entire process, not just an automated tool. Our guidance is personalised to your specific rank, category, domicile, and goals.
4 Can I get counselling in Hindi or regional languages?
Yes! Our counsellors can conduct sessions in English, Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Telugu, Marathi, and Tamil. When you book a session, you can specify your preferred language and we'll assign a counsellor accordingly. Our WhatsApp support is also available in multiple languages.
5 How do I book a counselling session?
You can book a free session three ways: (1) Click the "Book Free Counselling" button on any page and fill the form, (2) WhatsApp us directly at +91 98312 02569, or (3) Call our helpline. A counsellor will call you back within 24 hours. Sessions are conducted via phone or video call at a time convenient for you.
6 Do you offer counselling for students in all states of India?
Yes, we cover all 28 states and 8 Union Territories. We have specific expertise in state-level counselling for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, UP, West Bengal, Rajasthan, MP, Gujarat, and all other states. Our database includes state quota cutoffs for every state's counselling authority.
1 What is the difference between AIQ and State Quota in NEET UG?
AIQ (All India Quota) is 15% of government medical college seats open to all India students regardless of state, conducted by MCC. State Quota is the remaining 85% of seats in government colleges + 100% of private/deemed college seats, conducted by respective state counselling authorities. For state quota, you must usually be a domicile of that state. Vidyapaath guides you through both simultaneously for maximum seat options.
2 How many NEET UG counselling rounds are there?
MCC AIQ conducts typically 3 rounds: Round 1, Round 2, and Stray Vacancy Round. State counsellings vary — most states have 3-5 rounds including mop-up and stray vacancy. AIIMS has its own separate counselling with 3 rounds. The exact number and schedule varies each year. Vidyapaath tracks all round schedules in real time and advises you before each deadline.
3 What does "Float" and "Freeze" mean in NEET UG counselling?
"Float" means you accept a seat but want to upgrade to a better college in subsequent rounds — you remain in the pool for upgrades. "Freeze" means you're satisfied with your allotted seat and don't want any changes — you withdraw from further rounds and proceed to reporting. Choosing between Float and Freeze at each round is critical strategy. Vidyapaath analyses your profile to advise the right option at every round.
4 My NEET rank is 80,000. What government colleges can I get?
At rank 80,000 (General/UR), government MBBS chances in AIQ are limited, but state quota in many states (UP, Rajasthan, MP, Bihar, Jharkhand, WB, Odisha) still offers viable options depending on your domicile. You'd also have good options in Deemed universities and State Private colleges. Please use our College Predictor tool or book a free session where our experts will give you a state-specific, category-specific detailed analysis.
5 Can OBC/SC/ST students get MBBS at a lower rank?
Yes, significantly lower. Reserved category candidates have lower opening and closing ranks. An OBC candidate who can't get a government college at rank 80,000 under UR might easily get one at that rank in OBC category. SC/ST cutoffs are even lower. Vidyapaath has separate cutoff data for all categories (UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PH) for both AIQ and all state counsellings.
6 What is NEET UG Stray Vacancy Round?
The Stray Vacancy Round is the final round of counselling conducted after all regular rounds to fill remaining vacant seats. It is typically open to fresh candidates who didn't participate in earlier rounds or existing candidates who want to upgrade. It's time-sensitive with very tight deadlines (sometimes 24–48 hours). Vidyapaath sends real-time WhatsApp alerts for Stray Vacancy Rounds.
1 How is NEET PG counselling different from NEET UG?
NEET PG is for MD, MS, and Diploma postgraduate medical seats. The counselling has more complexity: choices include speciality (MD vs MS, which branch), institution type (government vs private), and location. 50% of government PG seats go to AIQ via MCC, and 50% to state quota. Competition is much higher with over 2 lakh candidates for about 50,000 seats. Vidyapaath provides speciality-specific cutoff analysis and career impact assessment for each choice.
2 Is MD or MS better? How do I choose my PG speciality?
It depends on your interests, career goals, and rank. MS (surgery-based: General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT) generally has higher earning potential but longer hours. MD (medicine-based: Internal Medicine, Radiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry) offers more varied careers. Radiology and Dermatology are the most competed-for MD specialities. Vidyapaath provides personalised speciality counselling based on your rank, work-life balance preferences, financial goals, and future superspecialisation plans.
3 What is DNB and how is it different from MD/MS?
DNB (Diplomate of National Board) is a postgraduate degree equivalent to MD/MS, conducted by the National Board of Examinations. DNB seats exist in accredited hospitals (both government and private) across India. They're a great alternative for candidates who couldn't secure MD/MS in their preferred speciality. Vidyapaath provides full guidance for DNB CET counselling alongside MCC PG counselling.
4 My NEET PG rank is 15,000. What speciality can I get in a government college?
At AIQ rank 15,000 (UR), in government colleges you're looking at Clinical specialities like General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, and Orthopaedics. Super-competitive seats like Dermatology, Radiology, Ophthalmology, and ENT typically close before rank 3,000 in government colleges. For a personalised assessment with exact colleges and specialities available at your rank, book a free NEET PG counselling session.
5 What is a bond in NEET PG government college?
Many state government PG medical colleges require a "bond" — a legal commitment to serve in a government hospital in that state for 1-5 years after completing your PG degree. The bond amount (financial penalty for breaking it) ranges from ₹10 lakhs to ₹1 crore depending on the state. Vidyapaath provides a complete state-wise bond obligation database so you know exactly what you're committing to before filling choices.
1 What is JoSAA? How does it work?
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) is the centralised counselling body for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs for JEE Advanced and JEE Main qualified students. JoSAA conducts 5-6 rounds of seat allotment. You register, fill your choices in preference order, and seats are allotted based on your rank, category, and institute availability. Vidyapaath provides complete JoSAA strategy including float/freeze/slide decisions and academic program-wise cutoff analysis.
2 Should I prefer IIT with a less popular branch or NIT with CSE?
This is the most common JEE dilemma. Generally: IIT with any branch > NIT CSE if you have a strong interest in research or want the IIT brand for placements/higher studies. But if you're clear you want industry (software/IT jobs), NIT CSE at a top NIT (Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal, Calicut) can actually place better than IIT with Civil/Mining/etc. Vidyapaath analyses this based on placement data, average packages, and your career goals.
3 My JEE Main rank is 25,000. What NITs can I get?
At rank 25,000 (UR), you have good chances at mid-tier NITs (NIT Raipur, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Sikkim, NIT Arunachal) in Mechanical, Civil, or ECE. Top NITs (Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal, Calicut) typically close under rank 15,000 for core branches. For exact branch and NIT-wise analysis at your rank and category, use our College Predictor or book a free JEE counselling session.
4 What is the difference between Home State and Other State quota in NITs?
Each NIT reserves 50% of seats for students from its home state (Home State quota, HS) and 50% for students from other states (Other State quota, OS). Home State candidates often get seats at significantly lower ranks. For example, NIT Calicut (Kerala) has a home state cutoff much lower than its other state cutoff. Vidyapaath's counselling accounts for your domicile state and optimises choices accordingly.
5 What is CSAB? Is it different from JoSAA?
CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) conducts the Special Round counselling after JoSAA concludes, to fill remaining vacant seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. CSAB Special Round is a fresh registration — even students who didn't participate in JoSAA can apply. It's an important second chance opportunity. Vidyapaath tracks CSAB notifications and provides timely guidance for eligible students.
1 My CAT percentile is 85. Which B-schools should I target?
At 85 percentile, you're looking at: New IIMs (Amritsar, Bodh Gaya, Sirmaur, Sambalpur, Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, Trichy, Ranchi), MDI Gurgaon (borderline), IMI Delhi, IIM Udaipur, IIM Rohtak. Strong Work Experience can also help at some IIMs through the Work Experience weightage. Vidyapaath provides a complete shortlist accounting for your academics (10th/12th/graduation), work experience, CAT sectional scores, and diversity factor.
2 What is the difference between MBA and PGDM?
MBA is a degree awarded by universities (including IIMs after 2020 when they became degree-granting). PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) is a diploma awarded by autonomous institutions not affiliated to a university — like older IIMs used to award and some top institutes like MDI, IMI, IMT still do. For job purposes, PGDM from a top institute like MDI or IMT is fully equivalent to MBA. PGDM institutes often have more industry-updated curriculum flexibility.
3 Besides CAT, which MBA exams should I appear for?
Recommended: (1) XAT — for XLRI Jamshedpur, XIMB, and 150+ colleges. (2) SNAP — for Symbiosis institutes (SIBM Pune, SCMHRD). (3) NMAT — for Narsee Monjee, NMIMS. (4) MAT/CMAT — for a large number of good private MBA colleges. (5) IIFT exam — for Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. Vidyapaath advises which combination to target based on your profile and career goals.
4 How important is work experience for IIM admissions?
Very important for IIM ABC and most top IIMs. IIM Ahmedabad's average work experience is 36+ months. IIM Bangalore and Calcutta also heavily weight experience (usually 2-5 years optimal). Without work experience, fresh graduates can still get calls from IIM C, L, K, I at very high CAT percentiles (99+). New IIMs and many other good institutes like MDI accept fresh graduates with lower cutoffs. Vidyapaath assesses your specific profile to identify the best target list.
1 Is MBBS from abroad valid in India?
Yes, if the university is on the NMC (National Medical Commission) approved list. After completing MBBS abroad, you must clear the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) or NExT (National Exit Test, launching 2025 onwards) to get registration in India and practice medicine. Vidyapaath ONLY recommends NMC-approved universities and provides integrated FMGE coaching support throughout your 6-year MBBS program.
2 How much does MBBS abroad cost vs India?
India private MBBS: ₹70L–₹1.2 Cr (with donation). Russia: ₹25–45L total for 6 years. Georgia: ₹35–55L. Philippines: ₹40–60L. Kazakhstan: ₹20–35L. Kyrgyzstan: ₹18–30L. In every case, abroad MBBS at a quality NMC-approved university is significantly more affordable than Indian private colleges — and with zero donation or capitation fee.
3 Do I need NEET to study MBBS abroad?
Yes. As per NMC regulations (effective 2021), Indian students must have a valid NEET score to be eligible for MBBS abroad. You must have cleared NEET with 50th percentile (General/OBC) or 40th percentile (SC/ST). This is mandatory to be eligible for NMC registration after returning to India. Without NEET qualification, your abroad MBBS degree will not be recognized in India.
4 Which is the best country for MBBS abroad for Indian students?
Russia — most popular, largest Indian community, lowest cost (₹25–45L), 50+ NMC approved universities. Georgia — European standard, ECFMG eligible, Tbilisi is very safe. Philippines — American curriculum, USMLE pathway, full English medium. Kazakhstan — most affordable (₹20–35L). The "best" depends on your budget, career goals (India vs abroad practice), and preferences. Book a free session for a personalised recommendation.
5 What is the FMGE pass rate? Is it hard to clear?
National average FMGE pass rate is 15–20%. However, this is the average including students who don't prepare systematically. Students who study specifically for FMGE from Year 1 of their MBBS (as Vidyapaath advises) achieve much higher pass rates. Vidyapaath's program has helped our students achieve 3x the national average. The key is integrating FMGE preparation throughout your 6-year MBBS — not cramming at the end.
6 How do I apply for MBBS abroad through Vidyapaath?
Simple 4-step process: (1) Book a free counselling call — our expert assesses your NEET score, budget, and preferences. (2) We shortlist 3-5 universities based on your profile. (3) We apply on your behalf, secure the admission letter, and guide document preparation. (4) We assist with VISA application and pre-departure orientation. The entire process from first call to departure typically takes 2-3 months. There is no application fee from your side to Vidyapaath — we charge only a one-time counselling fee if you proceed with admission.
1 How much does Vidyapaath charge for counselling?
Your first consultation is completely free. For full counselling packages (covering all rounds from choice filling to final admission), fees vary by programme: NEET UG Full Package starts at ₹3,999, NEET PG at ₹4,999, JEE at ₹2,999. Study Abroad counselling fees depend on the destination. All fees are disclosed upfront with no hidden charges. You can view full pricing on our services page or ask your counsellor during the free first call.
2 Do you offer refunds if I don't get admitted?
Vidyapaath counselling fees cover the service of expert guidance, strategy, and support — not a guaranteed admission outcome, which depends on your rank, category, and seat availability. We provide our best possible guidance. However, if you're unsatisfied with the service quality within 48 hours of purchase, please contact support. We'll evaluate each case individually. Our goal is long-term trust, and we always aim to resolve genuine grievances fairly.
3 Are your counselling sessions online or in-person?
All counselling sessions are online — via phone call, WhatsApp call, or Google Meet/Zoom video call. This allows us to serve students across all of India and even NRI/abroad students. We've found online counselling to be equally effective for admissions guidance, and students appreciate the flexibility of scheduling sessions at their convenience. Physical office visits can also be arranged at our Delhi office by appointment.
4 Can I get counselling at the last minute, during the counselling round itself?
Yes! We offer Last-Minute Round Counselling for students who didn't plan ahead. This is our most in-demand service during active counselling seasons. While it's always better to start early (our pre-counselling sessions help you prepare in advance), our experts can provide rapid guidance even 24–48 hours before a choice-filling deadline. WhatsApp us immediately at +91 98312 02569 for urgent support.
5 Do you help with college document verification and reporting?
Yes, we provide a complete post-allotment checklist for document verification — including which documents are typically required (NEET admit card, marksheets, category certificate, domicile, ID proof, medical certificate, gap certificate if applicable, etc.), what format they should be in, and common mistakes to avoid. Many students lose seats during document verification due to avoidable errors — our checklist prevents this.
6 Do you provide counselling for NRI / PIO category students?
Yes, we provide guidance for NRI quota seats in deemed and private medical/engineering colleges. NRI quota seats typically have higher fees but lower rank requirements. We also assist Indian students living abroad (UAE, USA, UK, Australia, etc.) with the complete Indian admission counselling process including NEET registration, document attestation, and choice filling from abroad. WhatsApp is our primary communication channel for overseas students.
