Overview of NEET PG 2025 Counselling
NEET PG counselling 2025 is conducted for MD, MS, PG Diploma, and DNB courses across government and private medical colleges. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) handles 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while state counselling authorities manage the remaining 50% state quota seats.
MCC PG Counselling Rounds
- Round 1: Open registration, choice filling, and first round of seat allotment.
- Round 2: Includes fresh candidates + those wishing to upgrade from Round 1.
- Mop-Up Round: For candidates not allotted in Rounds 1 and 2.
- DNB Centralised Merit List (CML): Separate counselling for DNB (Diplomate of National Board) seats at NBE-accredited hospitals.
High-Demand Specialties and Expected Cutoffs
Competition is intense for clinical branches. Based on 2024 AIQ cutoffs (General category, Government colleges):
- MD Radiology: Rank 1–1,000
- MD Dermatology: Rank 1–1,500
- MS Ophthalmology: Rank 1–2,500
- MS Orthopaedics: Rank 1–4,000
- MD Anaesthesiology: Rank 1–6,000
- MD General Medicine: Rank 1–8,000
- MD General Surgery: Rank 1–10,000
- MD Pathology: Rank 10,000–20,000+
- MD Community Medicine: Rank 20,000+
DNB Seats — A Good Alternative
DNB (Diplomate of National Board) is equivalent to MD/MS and is offered at NBE-accredited hospitals across India. DNB cutoffs are generally more accessible than government MD/MS seats. DNB CML is conducted separately by NBE.
State Quota PG Counselling
Each state conducts its own PG counselling for 50% state quota seats. Domicile and MBBS from state college criteria often apply. States like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Kerala have separate merit lists and schedules.
